This is a song which I know many people have heard. Who might the artist of
these songs be? No one else but Eunel Torres, singer and composer of the bachata
group, Nueva Era. Eunel Torres was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic,
June 30, 1982. He came to the U.S. at the young age of 5, and was raised in
NJ. At age 12, he learned how to play the guitar, and while still in school
he went around with local bands playing as the lead guitarist. He admires Anthony
Santos, but most of his music reflects other artist like: Ricardo Arjona, Alicia
Keys, and Alejandro Sanz. He admires artist like these because they are able
to keep their music original, and they sing, write, and play instruments. Jahny
Jimenez, brother of Henry Jimenez, and cousin of Eunel Torres founders of Nueva
Era, has been part of the group since 1999. Born in New Jersey on June 24, 1982
of Dominican parents, “Jae”, influenced by Eunel himself he was
always involved with the group, from playing percusion, to singing and composing
his own songs. After 7 years of hard work in 2006 Jae, finally made it. His
dream of singing with Eunel finally came true. Anel Peralta Born in Manhattan
on May 24, 1987, raised in Brooklyn, now living in Miami. This young lady started
off as a model at only 14 years old, at the same time taking singing lessons,
inspired from artists such as Mariah Carrey, Marc Anthony and Jose Jose decided
that music was the way for her to go. In 2004 while in Miami joined Nueva Era
and recorded her first album at only 17 years old. In the year 1999, Eunel created
the group Nueva Era, along with his cousin Henry. By 2001 everything began falling
into place and Eunel's dream became a reality. His first album with Nueva Era,
Bachateando en NY, was released under the record label of Universal Latino.
Nueva Era as a group accomplished three other albums: Amor Eterno, Make Way,
and Entrega, releasing hits such as, "Let Me Know", “Amor Eterno",
"We Belong Together" and the most recent "Presente Dolor."
They were nominated for two awards, one which was "Premio Lo Nuestro"
and "Billboard Latino." A direct quote from Eunel referring to his
music, "I believe in creating music because originality comes from creating."
He refers to those artists who only sing songs of other people and are incapable
of composing their own music. Eunel, Anel, and Jahny spend hours in the studio
writing their own lyrics and creating their own mixes for each and every song
they have come up with. They will go far in the future because of their dedication
and passion for music. Not only a great singer and one of the best guitarists,
Eunel also has composed 30 out of 44 songs in his albums and arranged most of
the music. Nueva Era has also collaborated with: Charlie Zaa, Fulanito, Raul
Acosta (Oro Solido), Sancocho, Andy Aguilera, Hernan Vargas, Tony Bravo, and
Noriega, just to name a few.
