Born
in the hard streets of Loiza, Puerto Rico, Mangani is a definite scout’s
pick to be one of Reggaeton’s next rising superstars. His recent addition
to the Wu Tang Latino roster has the critics raving as he possesses the skills,
lyrics, respect, and character that one would associate with the Wu Tang name.
Boasting an arsenal of versatile lyrics and well over a decade of experience
with Hiphop and Reggaeton, Mangani is miles ahead of the competition. Raised
between California and Puerto Rico, Mangani is 100% fluent in both English
and Spanish. Mangani combines his influences of West Coast style gangster
rap, Loiza style Reggaeton lyrics, and revolutionary consciousness all rolled
up into one very talented artist who expresses, entertains, and gives the
people what they want through his music. Mangani rapped exclusively in English
until 1993 when he moved back to Loiza, Puerto Rico and heard what were the
first Reggaeton tracks known back then, strictly as "underground”,
long before the recent U.S. crossover. Soon after he was a force to be reckoned
with as an active part of the “Underground” Reggaeton scene.
With his brother, Dj Tito, by his side as the musical composer, producer,
and Dj, Mangani, then known as Ouija da Wicked One and his rap partner La
Sista, then known as Sh'killa, who is now a major act signed to Machete Music,
took the streets of Loiza by surprise in the early 90's. Together they were
a super group gaining recognition and respect through the toughest of critics
of the “Underground” Reggaeton scene. They battled other local
groups on street corners and clubs until they parted ways in 1998 due to Mangani
joining the military. Since then, he has continuously been gaining ranks amongst
the best that Reggaeton and LatinHiphop have to offer making it known that
his hard felt presence is a reality and not a fad in this game.
Mangani is breaking the mold of the recent image people portray of Reggaeton
and has established himself as not just an artist, but a movement in the Reggaeton
and Latin Hiphop genres. Now together with Wu Tang Latino, he is ready to
take the industry by storm!
